Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript Submission:

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts electronically via the online submission system available on the JCIHS website. All submissions must conform to the guidelines set forth by the American Medical Association (AMA).

Formatting:

Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the AMA Manual of Style, 11th Edition. Ensure the use of concise and clear language, with proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. All text, including references and tables, should be double-spaced, and a clear 12-point font, such as Times New Roman or Arial, should be used throughout.

Title Page:

Include a separate title page with the manuscript title, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author contact information. Additionally, provide a word count for the abstract and the total word count for the entire manuscript.

Abstract:

All submissions must include a structured abstract of no more than 250 words, outlining the objective, methods, results, and conclusion of the research.

Keywords:

Include 3 to 5 keywords immediately following the abstract, aiding in the indexing and searchability of the manuscript.

Main Text:

Organize the main text into sections such as Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Clearly state the research question or hypothesis, describe the study design and methods, present results, and discuss their implications.

References:

Cite references in the text by superscript numbers, corresponding to the numbered reference list at the end of the manuscript. Follow AMA style for formatting references, including journal article titles, book titles, and other source types.

Tables and Figures:

Present tables and figures in a clear and concise format, ensuring they enhance the understanding of the research. Each table and figure should be numbered and accompanied by a descriptive title.

Ethical Considerations:

Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research involving human subjects or animals. Clearly state any conflicts of interest, funding sources, or other relevant ethical considerations.

Permissions:

Obtain written permission for the use of previously published material, including images, tables, or figures.

Submission Checklist:

Authors should ensure that their submission includes the following:

  • Completed manuscript.
  • Structured abstract

  • Clear and concise tables and figures
  • Ethical considerations statement
  • Permissions for any previously published material
